Korea, 1954: The Slapsie Maxie USO Show
This is a part of a set of slides taken by Edward Jay, 25th Replacement Co, 25th Inf. Division, US Army in 1954.
"Slapsie Maxie" was an ex-boxer named Max Rosenbloom, who was a nightclub owner, and comedian. His co-star was Gloria Pall, an aspiring actress who had a moment of notoriety later in 1954 when she starred as "Voluptua" in a TV show. Her overt sexuality caused such an uproar that the show was cancelled after 7 weeks. The Wikis on both these personalities are quite interesting.
Mr. Jay took a number of other slides depicting life in the 25th Replacement company, which I will present in a separate album.
