Korea 1946-'47 The slides of Maj. C.B. Whi
These are a small group of slides taken by Major Cecil B. White, US Army, in Korea during 1946-'47. At the time, he seems to have been in the 97th Inf. Division, which was involved in disposing of Japanese military supplies and assets. He took a number of slides with Kodachrome, which have retained their brilliance all these years. He took others with Anscochrome, with typically fades and turns red over time. I did my best with them, but they are not so good.
As you look at the people in these photos, you get a sense of peace and calm, despite the political turmoil going on, and you wonder what happened to them in the coming storm of War. Maj. White returned to Korea in 1950-'51, and those wartime photos will form part two of this album.
